Graduated!

Wowwie … it’s been a LONG time since I’ve updated this sucker… just over 2 years!!

Well, lets see, where to begin… I graduated from ODU last month! Yay! College is over! Finally! After 6 years!!  It was definitely a fun 6 years though, if I had to do it over again, I don’t know if I’d do it differently or not.  So where does that put me now?  Job hunting like a mad-man.  I have my resume up on 4 different websites and I search craigslist often.  My lease on the house I have at ODU is up at the end of this month, and I’m still not sure where I’m going to live once it is up.  I have a few options that I’m considering, but each option has its ups and downs…

This is definitely a new step in life, being graduated and out in the “real world”, but I’m looking forward to it.

Summer is here

And that means kicking back, relaxing, and not doing a damn thing….. SIKE. I got a job and I’m taking two summer classes, one being calculus… Mmmm mmm, now doesn’t that just sound delicious.

It’s been a while since my last update, but spring classes are over, and I got a 3.13 GPA, which ain’t bad, but damn that Accounting 202 class to bring me down. I got a D- in it, hopefully I won’t have to re-take it again… but something tells me I might have to. Oh well, second time around, I’ll ace the sucker :D

I found a job which I really like. I work for a company called Computer Specialists, Inc. The best way to explain it is its like “Geeks on Call” or “Geek Squad” where they come out to your house and fix your computer. However we deal with residential and business customers. We are also more competitively priced and provide a wide range of services aside from strictly PC repair, such as consultation, training, and small business networking. My usually calls me two hours before my first appointment, which gives me ample time to get ready and get out there. It’s very inconsistant in terms of scheduling, but since I’m not doing anything too important this summer, so it works just fine. When I explain it to people, they say they’d hate to have something like that, because you can’t plan around it. But even so, its normally a Monday through Friday, 8AM to 8PM job, of which I can possibly have one, two, three, or zero clients.

What’s even cooler is that I am considered my own employer. CSI “contracts” me out to do work for clients, so I see a full, pre-tax paycheck. They just send me a 1099 form at the end of the year so I can file taxes. But thats not the only cool part… being my own employer means I can deduct expenses for my business. Examples you ask? Let me name a few… milage to and from appointments - deducted; the laptop I bought for this job - deducted; lunch I eat on a daily basis - deducted; part of my cell phone bill - deducted. Basically, any expense I incur for or during my job, I can deduct when I file taxes — it’s freaking sweet. My boss is a great guy, fun to talk to and work for. He’s very flexible in my scheduling and I can ask off whenever I want. Oh, and I forgot to mention pay… $20/hr. :D

Anyways, I’m off for now. Expect another update soon!

Mac Mini to Mod

I’m debating about buying a Mac Mini so I can mod the shit out of it.  I can upgrade the processor to a Core2 as well as custom-install a 3.5in hard drive via a MiniStack.  Doing so would make for an excellent Media computer, much less an excellent personal computer.  Coupled with that new sexy AirPort Extreme, I could have a slick stack of awesomeness….

Registration

Due to the gaytarted amounts of spam I’ve been getting, I configured my site where you have to register (it’s free) to post a comment.  This saves a ton of work on my part filtering through all the crap I get.  And, you can have your own unique alias on my site :)

And incase you’re wondering… yes, I can change your credentials after you’ve registered.

And on a side note, I added a “Wish List” page for all the shit I want.
